Post-Production Notes

The post-production of Vizontele Tuuba was made by an international team in Istanbul and Munich.

The negatives of the recordings were weekly sent to the ARRI laboratories and sent back to Turkey after their one-light telesines had been done.

During the recordings the film edit was done at the camp in Gevas where the film crew stayed and afterwards at the house of Yilmaz Erdogan, the director, in Istanbul where there was established an AVID 9000 set by Authopsy Post-Production.

All laboratory and negative-cut processes of the film were done by the ARRI laboratory. The dissolve effects of the film again were done by ARRI at the Blow-up Company in Munich. ARRI also did the 2 K scanning of the digitally-processed parts of the film and the ARRILASER negative-exposing-process.

The images, which were scanned from the negatives, were brought to Istanbul on high-capacity disks and processed at the Imaj Studios with compositing equipment digitally.

The dialogue positioning & the sound design and mixing was done by a group of Turkish and British sound engineers and technicians leaded by our Irish sound technician Alan O'Duffy at the Imaj Studios in Istanbul. For the first time in Turkey the music to a film was not mixed stereo but 5.1 surround by preparing the sound design at the Dolby-Digital sound standard 5.1.The optical print of the sound mixing and the preparation of the compound master negatives again was done by the ARRI lab.

Like in "Vizontele" the film music was prepared by "Kardes Turkuler". This time the work was supported by Rahman Altin's "background scoring" and some additional music.

The fact that the story of the film is set in the year 1980, required serious archive work. During the film production the news and programmes archives of TRT Ankara TV channel and the TRT Istanbul radio channel were the resource. The film credits again were prepared from images which were bought from the TRT archives. Mesut Mertcan, Zuhal Cetinkanat and Sengul Karaca, the TRT presenters of the period, gave life to the original texts with their recordings. The preview and all other visual promo items of "Vizontele Tuuba" were prepared digitally with high solubility. The trailer was put to the HI-DEF telecine at Sinemaj-Istanbul. On-line editing, ARRILASER negative exposing and copy prints were done in the Sinefekt-Istanbul labs. The sound mixing of the trailer again was done at the Imaj Studios. Again for the first time in Turkey the trailer of the film was prepared with English, German, French and Dutch subtitles from the same digital master negative. The screening of the trailer has been started throughout the country in 400 theatres since 26th December 2003.

The screening copies of the film were print by the ARRI lab in Germany. 200 copies were printed for Turkey and 75 copies for the countries abroad. For the screening copies subtitles in English, German. French, Dutch and Swedish have been prepared.
