As his father was a member of the army he spent most of his childhood in towns of Anatolia. While studying in high-school his family moved to Istanbul and settled down in Bakirkoy. To ern some pocket money and support the family budget he worked as a street vendor and lifeguard. He trained as mechanical engineer at university. He entered an artist contest organised by the Ses magazine in 1970. His life changed with the contest. Between 1970-1975 he he took a role in films almost every month. During those years he worked with Emel Sayin in "Mavi Boncuk"and "Yalanci Yarim", with Hulya Kocyigit in " Sev Kardesim", with Hale Soygazi in "Oh Olsun" and in the film "Hababam Sinifi". He decided to take roles in "political" films. Due to the embargo of the producers he didn't play in films for 1.5 years. Later he played in many films of his preference. "Suru","Maden" and "Yol" are some of those films. With the money he earned, he bought the Tas School, where he used to study; he modernized it and established a prestigious institution for education. He got married in 1980. He has 3 children from this marriage. He has been spending most of his time in the Tas School. |
